Look at those kids...! |
We have been married 11 years now and I cannot believe how fast it has gone by. The things we have accomplished in 11 years and the amount we have grown as people and a couple makes my heart happy!
This year, just by chance, we ended up going on an amazing trip to California! Adam happened to have a trip to Orange County the weekend before our anniversary and we decided to just take our chances and I flew out and met him there! (I mean why not? We had points for the flight, his hotel was paid for by work and we could eat off his daily per-diam!)
We had no great expectations for this trip except to sit by the pool and enjoy a little time away. Boy were we in for a surprise! When Adam landed the owners of his plane were disappointed I had flown commercial (keep in mind I had never met them before). They invited us to their house in Laguna Beach for the 4th for dinner and when they found it out was our anniversary they offered to pay for use to stay at a resort nearby. We politely declined explaining we had a hotel paid for by work.
We had not been at the hotel an hour when we got a text from the owners saying that had gotten us a villa at the Pelican Hill Resort in Laguna Beach and to check out of our hotel. The resort was something out of a movie and we were definitely out of our league! We pulled up to a valet only entrance in our rental, a Camry, among Ferrari's, Audi's, Porsche's, Bentley's and so on. We were driven to our villa which had an ocean view and was the most beautiful place I've ever stayed by far! They had flowers and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us in the room. The pool was insanely large and we thoroughly enjoyed laying out in the 70* weather! From our patio we were able to watch 4 different fireworks shows simultaneously out over the ocean. It was definitely different from watching at home as we were bundled up in blankets because it was so cool!
While in California we also hiked up to the Hollywood sign, visited Disneyland, California Adventure and Downtown Disney. We ate at Carney's in LA, walked along Laguna Beach, ate at The Cliff's overlooking the ocean and had a really fun meal at Saddle Ranch Chop House.
On the 4th we went to the Johnson's house, again amazing, and enjoyed a BBQ with their family. The are super sweet people and we really appreciated their generosity! I was super excited to find out the Heather Dubrow from the Real Housewives of the OC lived down the street and Kobe Bryant lived right behind them! They insisted that we drive their new Porsche down the Pacific Coast Highway and Adam immediately said no! Mr. Johnson said, "I trust you with my million dollar aircraft; get in my car and drive it!" He had a point, so we did! It was so fun!
When it was time to go home they insisted I cancel my flight home and fly with them instead. Looking back we were so blessed on this trip and I cannot wait to go back!

My ride home! |
While we were in California we were so fortunate to have my in-laws keep Marley. She had so much fun! She learned to fish, made a bird feeder and went to her first movie at the movie theater with Gran and Papa and Emma! She had a slushie with Aunt Tracie (and managed to make a giant mess) and played with her love Blaine! She picked blueberries at a blueberry farm, went to church and swam with Grammy Carol and Pawpaw. We are so lucky to have so many family members to love on her while we were gone!
