friday the 13th and a full moon...

I guess we shouldn't really be shocked that Marley broke her arm on Friday the 13th and a full moon.  What can I say...this might not be my best mom moment, but on Monday she had fallen off the monkey bars at school and complained about her arm hurting but it wasn't red, swollen and she could use it.  The only time she even complained about it hurting the rest of the week was if we asked if it was hurting.  Friday morning though, Chipie the elf had brought her some new socks and she was running through the house when she busted it big time.  Unfortunately, this time it was obvious she was hurt.  Adam took her to urgent care and they confirmed it was broken.
(I'm going to go with it didn't actually break until Friday.)
We spent the next week in a cast from above her elbow to her fingers.  A week later we ended up with a bright pink cast from below the elbow to the fingers.  AND...its waterproof!  GAME CHANGER!  Unfortunately, the only day we could get an appointment to get her cast was the same day as her class field trip.  Thankfully her sweet kindergarten teacher, Ms. Hannegan, so graciously let her be her helper for the day so she could still have a special day!
