risd coronation...

We've learned quite a few things moving to a small town and one of those is that traditions are BIG, and they begin early!  Robinson ISD has an event every year called "Coronation" that is a fundraiser for the Robinson Education Foundation.  Each year students vote on a boy and girl to represent each grade level as the "Duke" and "Duchess".  Those students are then charged with raising money as representatives of their class for the Education Foundation.  As a recipient myself this year of a $3,500 grant I know how important this task is.  The Duke and Duchess at each school that raises the most money is crowned "Prince" and "Princess" and then the overall winner for the district is crowned "Queen" and "King".  Although, Marley and her Duke, Knox, did not win she had a blast, raised a lot of money and enjoyed every minute of it.
Last Saturday was coronation, the culmination of about 3 months of hard work.  Marley loved getting all glammed up and having family and friends come to see her.  We were so glad to have Ms. Rhonda, Mariah, Avery, Erin and Elijah come from Dallas to see her!  Ms. Rhonda helped us raise Marley to be the beautifully smart, sassy young lady she has become from 12 weeks old until we moved from Dallas and she will forever be a part of our family and hopefully a part of all the big events in Marley's life.
As I told Adam, I'm afraid this has just begun!
Practice for coronation.
