christmas 2020...

 2020 may have just plain stunk over all, but Christmas 2020 was just plain wonderful for the Cains! 

We got to spend time as a family, relax, go to Christmas Eve service and travel a bit.  Adam had to work Christmas so we asked Santa to come a little early which Marley was just fine with.  We got to travel and see all sides of the family and truly celebrate the reason for the season.

So we are choosing to end 2020 with positive, happy memories of more time to slow down and spend time as a family.

 Well, in true 2020 fashion yesterday was a tad bit interesting.  Adam is out of town, and Marley and I were having a super laid-back, finish last minute errands kind of day.  Marley had complained in the middle of the night of her right side hurting, but honestly I kind of blew it off as nothing big.  As the day went on she began complaining of her stomach hurting and riding in the car was excruciatingly painful. She also wasn't really interested in eating or drinking anything.  I decided, being so close to the holidays, I wasn't going to take any chances and took her in to see the pediatrician.  The pediatrician immediately suspected appendicitis, except she was missing the vomiting and fever.  She decided to send us home, but with her personal cell phone number to call the minute anything got worse.  (We LOVE our pediatrician!) Later in the afternoon Marley began projectile vomiting out of no where.  I immediately took her temp which was 100.8.  I called the pediatrician and she said we really need to go to the ER.

We packed up and headed that way.  They entire ER staff was amazing and I can only imagine what they have been dealing with, yet you would never know.  They were patient, kind, caring and took all the time we needed to figure out what was going on.  They too suspected appendicitis.  They started an IV with fluids, took urine and blood samples and then did an ultrasound.  Unfortunately, the ultrasound wasn't conclusive so we had to begin the CAT scan process.  (Who knew that required drinking special liquid and waiting 2 hours?!) At this point we were both EXHAUSTED!

Marley truly was a trooper!  She slept, fortunately, while we waited for the CAT scan.  I got to go in and watch the CAT scan images as they were taken and it was truly a neat experience to see all those perfectly formed little organs - GOD IS GOOD!  

Fortunately, she did not have appendicitis, but she did have a bladder infection and lots of swollen lymph nodes in her abdomen.  After 2 bags of IV fluids, antibiotics via IV, and 6 hours we were finally able to leave and head home.  Needless to say were were both exhausted, but the prayers that I know were being prayed over us were definitely felt and I know God's hand was over her.  

So, broken arm last Christmas, ER visit this Christmas...Christmas 2021 is coming wrapped in bubble wrap!

halloween 2020...

 Although this year has been anything but normal, it was nice to have a somewhat "normal" Halloween.  

Marley entered into the bank's Pumpkin Contest with her candy apple pumpkin and ended up winning 2nd place!  She was so excited!

Halloween was actually on Saturday and the weather was beautiful!  On Friday Marley got to dress up for school so she decided to go has a robot and of course we couldn't leave Charlie out! 

On Saturday Marley got to finally wear her "real" costume!  She couldn't have been more excited about being a blow up unicorn.  We started the night with the Robinson Education Foundation Glow Run.  Then we had to visit Mrs. Lashombe and then made our way back to our neighborhood where we ran into friends and finished off the night!  The only way it could have been better is if Adam had been able to be home.

tooth 3, 4, 5 & 6...

 I swear my child is about to have no teeth!  She has lost 4 teeth in the last 3 weeks.  Of course she won't let you touch them so they literally hang by a thread until they just fall out.  

The 1st of the 4 teeth fell out in her sleep and we couldn't find it anywhere.  We decided to just write a letter to the tooth fairy explaining what happened.  Later that morning, as I was taking the sheets out of the dryer, I found the tooth in the dryer vent!  At least it was really clean!  

Tooth #2 came out at school, like literally just flew out of her mouth as she was talking.  Luckily her teacher texted me a picture around lunch time giving me a heads up that the tooth fairy would be visiting our house that night.  This was on Monday.  

Wednesday morning Marley and I were about to walk out the door and we realized another tooth was missing...#5.  We had no idea when it came out or where it was.  I looked back in the picture Mrs. Becknauld texted me Monday around noon and the missing tooth was in the picture so she lost it sometime between Monday at noon and Wednesday morning.  Geez this kid! 

Then this past Thursday I get another text from her teacher that the tooth fairy would once again be coming.  Tooth #6 got hung in her hair at recess (I have not idea how...I quit asking questions like that) and just flew out...it's still somewhere on Robinson Elementary's playground.

At least she keeps things exciting!
