mother's day...

Today was a day filled of fun and firsts for Marley and I.  Unfortunately Adam had to leave for work today so we made the best of it...just the two of us.
Right away Marley reminded me that just like any other day...I'm just the mom.
It started with breakfast that she "wasn't hungry for", yet the minute I sat down to eat what I had made for myself she proceeded to eat it all.
We went to church and, as always, enjoyed a wonderful service with dearest friends.  As the service was over they gave each mom a bundt cake...which was quickly taken over and eaten by my child.  2 for 2 at this point...

We got home and I fixed Marley and I some lunch....she quickly ate hers...and then mine.
3 for 3...

Then we spent the rest of the afternoon doing some of our favorite things and even a few "firsts".
We went to the JCPenney Headquarters, our favorite place to picnic and watch the ducks.

Then of course we hit up Target to get our "ingredients" for our next projects.  Adam and I had realized on Saturday that Marley has never experienced Jello or pudding (considering our child just started eating some sweets, by choice, this isn't that strange).  We got some pudding, jello and muffin mix (Marley's request) and headed home.  We made our Jello and pudding which she is super bummed we have to wait to eat until they are "ready" tomorrow and baked our muffins.
She then insisted that she wanted to take me to Red Lobster...I'm pretty sure due to a commercial she had just seen.  When asked if she was paying her response was, "What?!  No!  I don't have a budget, I'm not an adult yet."
Yes Marley, you are correct you sure don't have a budget and I am reminded daily of this...

This sweet, spunky little girl that made me a mommy also makes me the happiest person ever.  I still want to cry and laugh at least once everyday by the things you say and do but you know how to keep life entertaining and make sure that I take in every single moment.

I LOVE YOU!

kindergarten round-up...

Kindergarten round-up...how is this already happening?
Last week we went to Waco to go to Marley's kinder round-up at Robinson Primary.  We had no idea what to expect...from round-up, or Marley!
Let's just say she didn't disappoint!  The minute we got out of the car in the parking lot Adam and I knew we had made the right decision in bringing her back to a small town school.  We could hear the high school band playing in the parking lot to greet the kids, the cheerleaders where greeting each child and hot dogs were on the grill.  Of course in true Marley fashion she had to talk to the cheerleaders and tell them how pretty they were and how she "loved" their hair!  We proceeded to find our spot in the mile-long line to complete our paperwork.  The principal, Ms. Zacharias greeted each family as we waited and then one of the kinder teachers came to meet Marley and take her for assessments.  Of course as a mommy and a teacher it was killing me to not be able to hear what was being said and asked.  They went over letters, sounds, colors, shapes, numbers and then had her write her name.  When they brought her back she said she had done great!
As we were leaving we saw the principal speaking to some other families...of course Marley took it upon herself to interrupt, "Excuse me...I can't wait to visit you in the principal's office even if it is because I'm in trouble."
Obviously Adam and I were dying, and the principal, trying not to laugh, told her that she couldn't wait to see her too, but not because she was in trouble.
Let's just all take a moment and pray for her future teachers...and for us for that matter...

bluebonnets...

If you grow up in Texas its a given you will take Bluebonnet pictures!  Unfortunately, our go to spot in Dallas didn't really have any this year so we ended up at the elementary school I went to as a little girl.
This year was all about the twirl!

easter 2018...

This Easter was a lot of fun!  Even though Adam wasn't home we did get to see family and even participate in a few egg hunts.
Marley's first hunt was at school which she always loves!  It's so cute when I pick her up and she can't even wait the 1 minute drive home to start showing me what was in all her eggs.
On Friday Marley and I went to Waco.  We had a lot of fun decorating eggs with her cousin Ranger and then going to the Robinson egg hunt.  It cracks me up that she could really care less what was in the eggs...it was truly all about the "hunt"!  She even got to get her face painted which lasted a hot 5 minutes...

On Sunday we attended church and then hunted eggs at Grammy and Pops house before heading back to Dallas to see Adam!

Their faces kill me!

He's ready!

We're excited that next Easter we won't have to travel as far to see family!

headed back to the 254...

Well if you haven't heard already the Cain's are headed back to Waco!
Our story started in Waco nearly 16 years ago when Adam and I met in college in Waco and now we've decided to head back.  Neither of us ever thought we'd move back "home"...until Marley came along.  It's amazing how having a child will change the course of how you "thought" your life would play out.  We both want her to grow up near family as we did.  We want her to live a little slower life and attend smaller schools...much smaller schools!
Adam's job is not changing...it just allows us to not have to live in Dallas anymore and he will commute back to Love Field every other week.  As for me, I will be teaching GT 5th grade math in Robinson ISD...a quarter of a mile from our new home!
We have purchased land and are going to be building our dream home!
If you know me...change is not my thing!  My emotions have been all over the place about this decision!  I just started my dream job this year at a wonderful school and we have made such amazing friends here in Dallas.  Pretty much our entire marriage has been here in Dallas.  We've been here 12 years, owned 2 houses and watched both of our careers grow.
With Marley starting kindergarten next year, we couldn't think of a better time to make this move.
We will only be 2 hours away and we'll be back...often!
